Yang for NY Releases New Ad, “New Leadership”
**RELEASE** May 17th, 2021
New York, NY—Today, the Yang for New York campaign launched a new ad, "New Leadership."
The ad highlights the central theme of Andrew’s campaign - that the city needs new leadership that is a “break from the past” - along with his core policy priorities:
- Fully reopening schools - an issue Andrew and Evelyn particularly care about as public school and special needs parents.
- A $1 billion cash relief program - the largest of its kind in the country.
- A public bank - the People’s Bank - to get affordable loans to small businesses and bank accounts to the nearly 1,000,000 New Yorkers who don’t have one.
The ad builds off of Andrew’s successful debate performance last week where he showed New Yorkers that he is the only candidate in this race capable of supercharging New York’s recovery through big ideas and bold policy solutions. Andrew once again demonstrated to New Yorkers that his candidacy represents new leadership that will be a break from the politics of the past that have been dragging New York down.
“New Leadership” was filmed throughout the city, including in front of Brooklyn’s Central Library’s iconic bronze entrance. It follows the release of Yang For New York’s first ad, "Hope." The new ad comes as New Yorkers begin to receive their mail-in ballots and early voting is less than four weeks away. The full text of the ad is below: [Yang VO] There is so much pointless suffering in New York City and it breaks my heart. We need direct cash relief because no one should go hungry in our city. We need to get schools open so kids can learn and parents can get back to work. We need a People’s Bank because it should not be so expensive to be poor. [Bystander] People need money, and communities like this need to stop suffering. [Yang VO] We need new leadership that’s a break from the politics of the past that have been dragging us down.
