Over 21,000 Donors and Counting: Andrew Yang Raises $1.4 Million in Latest Filing Period Powered by Unprecedented Grassroots Support; Surpasses $10M Raised with Matching Funds Since January 2021
**RELEASE** May 18th, 2021
New York, NY —Today, Yang for NY announced the campaign has raised $1.4 million in the latest two month filing period, with $309,000 of the donations matchable under the city’s public financing system. In under five months of campaigning, YFNY is on track to reach the maximum amount of public matching funds at $10.9 million.
The outpouring of support puts the campaign on pace to have the most donors ever in a NYC mayoral election. YFNY has welcomed a total of 21,137 donors with 6,000 new donors joining during the latest filing period. The previous record is held by David Dinkins’ 1989 campaign with 23,287 contributors. Said Senior Fundraising Advisor Anthony Mercurio, “Our campaign is ideally situated to make history on June 22nd. Andrew is building a coalition never before seen in New York City and the excitement for his unique candidacy is palpable. Andrew’s plans to not only supercharge the city’s recovery, but lead the city away from the status quo is generating enthusiasm unlike any other candidate in the race.” Despite entering the race later than other top competitors, YFNY has raised a combined $3.5 million and has already received $3.7 million in matching funds to date. The fundraising effort is unprecedented in New York City politics - outraising nearly the entire field in five months. The campaign is leveraging its break-neck fundraising pace by pursuing an aggressive field, GOTV, and ad buy strategy. Over the past two weeks, the campaign has released two new television ads to complement its digital placements. CFB reports are required to be filed by Friday, May 21st.
