New York State Assembly Member Daniel Rosenthal Endorses Andrew Yang For Mayor of New York City
**RELEASE** March 16th, 2021
New York, NY—Today, New York State Assembly Member Daniel Rosenthal endorsed Andrew Yang for Mayor of New York City.
Representing New York State Assembly District 27 -- the Central and Eastern Queens neighborhoods of Kew Gardens Hills, Pomonok, Electchester, and College Point, and parts of Kew Gardens, Richmond Hill, Briarwood, Forest Hills, and Whitestone -- since 2017, Assembly Member Rosenthal has fought hard to bring real tangible results for his constituents. Over the years, Assembly Member Rosenthal has been a fierce proponent of keeping adequate funding in our educational institutions and libraries, fighting against the injustices within our public housing systems -- including securing a $20.5 million investment for the Pomonok Houses to ensure that no resident experiences a lack of heat or hot water, and working tirelessly to keep Queens affordable and ensure constituents have access to the City and State’s essential services, particularly as Chairman of Task Force on Food, Farm & Nutrition Policy. Assembly Member Rosenthal has also been instrumental, particularly during the global pandemic, in addressing food insecurity statewide through programs such as the highly successful Nourish NY Initiative program launched earlier this year, which connects regional agricultural producers with emergency food providers as well as improving food access to communities of color, who bore the economic and physical brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Said Assemblymember Daniel Rosenthal, "New York City is facing an unprecedented health and economic crisis. Getting our city back on track requires a new approach to leadership and creative problem solving. Andrew Yang not only has the vision for a path forward, but has shown his deep commitment to our city's diversity and its people. I am proud to endorse his campaign for Mayor."
Said Andrew Yang, “I am deeply proud to receive this endorsement from Assemblymember Rosenthal, an unwavering advocate for public health policy as well as affordable housing. His commitment this year to addressing statewide food insecurity is a model for how I and others should all look to lead during a crisis. I very much look forward to working alongside him as we both look to advance our innovative ideas to pave the long road that will lead to permanent affordable housing for our most vulnerable communities.”
