Former New York State Assembly Member Walter Mosley Endorses Andrew Yang for Mayor
**RELEASE** May 15th, 2021
New York, NY—Today, former New York State Assembly Member Walter Mosley endorsed Andrew Yang for Mayor of New York City. Said former State Assembly Member Walter Mosley, “Andrew Yang not only has the big, bold vision for New York that communities like ours need, but the ability to execute and get it done. His plans to get cash directly in the hands of New Yorkers, build truly affordable housing, and inject capital into Black- and brown-owned businesses will be a godsend for the New Yorkers struggling the most. He is without a doubt the best person to lead an equitable, inclusive recovery for our City.”
Said Andrew Yang, “Walter Mosley’s dedication to his community and bold advocacy for tenants’ rights, affordable housing, and police reform are inspiring — I am proud to receive his endorsement for mayor. He knows that our city is not working for too many people, and together we will deliver more for the people of New York and transform the politics of our city.”
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mosley became politically active from an early age, serving his community in various roles, ranging from District Leader, to Senior Advisor to the Deputy Speaker of New York State Assembly, to Chief of Staff and Senior Consultant to the New York State Assembly, to working alongside Governor David A. Paterson and the Democratic National Party on behalf of Senator John Kerry in 2004. In the Assembly, Mosley championed real, affordable housing for New Yorkers and an end to over-criminalization of Black and brown communities for marijuana use.
