Andrew Yang Continues NYC Recovery Week With LGBTQ+ Nightlife Roundtable in Manhattan
**RELEASE** February 23rd, 2021
New York, NY—Today, February 23rd, Andrew Yang, Democratic candidate for mayor of NYC, will continue his five borough tour of local businesses for the campaign’s New York City Recovery Week, visiting NYC’s oldest continuously-operating gay bar, Julius’ Bar, in the West Village.
Said Andrew Yang, “Bars like Julius’ are essential parts of the cultural fabric and history of New York City — they must be protected at all costs. As Mayor, I will empower small businesses to thrive in post-pandemic New York and work to repair the long-standing distrust between the LGBTQ+ nightlife industry and government regulators.”
Andrew will be meeting with owners of marquee establishments in the West Villages’ LGBTQ+ community, to discuss how as mayor, he can help the nightlife industry rebound from the economic downturn caused by COVID-19:
- Julius’ Bar: Helen Buford (owner), Danny Onzo, bartender
- The Stonewall Inn: Kurt Kelly, Staci Lentz
- The Cubby Hole: Debbie Greenberg, Daniel Reiche
